Pacing Mind

Dad

Down.
Desperate.
Defeat.

Why does it feel so good.

Mom

Alone.
Alienated.
Abandoned.

Somehow it feels warm.

Blurring eyes see no love
Ringing ears never heard
I love you

Days

Waiting.
Wanting.
Wishing.

It became normal.

People

Faking.
Feigning.
Frightened.

Anything to keep my heart beating.
My life became a distortion.
I beg for memories.
One reason if Dad stayed.
One day if Mom didn’t leave.
One childhood memory that isn’t missing.
Nothing between me
and what waits
behind my eyes.

I beg.

I beg.

Today

Drowned.
Drunk.
Defeated.

Still looking for approval.

Years

Waiting.
Wanting.
Wishing.
