Raindrops

,

A melancholic alternative song about distance, loneliness, and the things that keep falling after everything else has gone quiet. Written first in 2021, I was going through harddrive after hard drive after recordings, and I recorded this song in a Iron & Wine type open tuning, and it was raining on that crappy phone recording. So I decided to redo it with all the plugins and tools I had at my expose last night. Guitar was triple tracked, vocals quadruple tracked trying to learn to produce on a higher level without putting out less quality. Using Cubase, and Waves plugins. Compression, EQ, some audio editing with midi puller on audio to make guitar mistakes correct, Waves clarity, ran through Abbey road tape emulation. Compared to 6 months ago, im using about 50 less plugins and considering from the recording to that only 4 plugins is a great start. Oh and some cheesy rain in the backround to mimick my original recording in a garage when it was raining, hoping it continues to grow better to no effects.

Matthew P. Haubert · Raindrops

Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
When the night falls
Decides to drop the rain
Will you cover up
And drift away the pain
Will you listen to
The melody of
Raindrops falling
And watch as they paint a picture on your windowpane

[Verse 2]
Does it remind you
Of anything
It always reminds me
Of our lazy day
My favorite memory
And how they washed away

[Verse 3]
And if tonight the storm rages on
let’s use the lightning and the thunder
we can blow all the arguments away
take the lightning and destroy our yesterdays
everything we did in vain
because
does it really matter anyway?
if it’s a new day

[Verse 4]
So when you wake up,
green eyes in the suns rays
will you let me know if you dreamed the same day
the raindrops composing our past so vividly
because I swear I felt you
I know it was you
next to me
